Living in Kampar

Kampar is a small town located in Perak state, Malaysia. It was founded in 1887 with the discovery of rich tin ore in this town. It was once down after the collapse of the tin industry in early 1980s.

Today, Kampar has turn into a bustling town again when Universiti Tunku Abdul Rahman (UTAR) set up its campus here in 2007. It has given a new life to Kampar as an education hub. Kampar is now divided into new and old towns


Kampar Old Town

Kampar old town consists of several rows of “historical” pre-war shop houses. The two main streets are Jalan Gopeng and Jalan Idris, most of these shop houses are still in its original appearance. Police Station, post office, hospital, mosque, church etc., and KTM railway station are all located in Old Town.

Kampar New Town

Kampar new town, under vast development. Today, the commercial and industrial sectors are mainly driving forces of Kampar’s economy. Its economy is further driven by the opening of Tesco Hypermarket, Econsave and Giant Hypermarket. 

Getting Around

Kampar has well develop transport networks and efficient rail links. The main mode of transport include buses, taxis and commuter trains that provide convenient and quick access to various parts of the country.

Kampar and its surrounding areas offer numerous attractions and activities for  those who are adventurous and prefer physical activities  such as hiking, water rafting, be it day trip or guided tour.
