Banking and finance is the study of managing money, financial instruments and financial institutions in an economy. It studies how banks handle money circulation, investments and loan financing, acquiring and disposing of financial assets, and managing day-to-day operations.
The banking and finance curriculum at UTAR is aimed to educate students with an understanding of finance, accounting and management, with an emphasis on modern banking and financial management. Students acquire hands-on experience with tools used in industry, such as the Statistical Analysis System (SAS), which is used for business analytics and intelligence, data management and predictive analytics.
Aside from professional recognition, UTAR is one of the few universities in the Chartered Financial Analyst (CFA) University Programme that incorporates the CFA Program Candidate Body of Knowledge (CBOK) into the banking and finance programme. Hence, students will be prepared to take the CFA examinations.
